This is the correct way to use a multimeter. Did the old electrician use it correctly?

A good habit to develop when using a multimeter is to check the position of the dial before each measurement. By cultivating this habit, the chance of burning out the meter will be greatly reduced.
When selecting the range, try to keep the pointer indicating around two-thirds of the full scale for more accurate readings. If you are unsure of the voltage or current being measured, choose a higher range first, then adjust the range based on the reading to ensure accuracy.
When measuring resistance, you must reset to zero after changing the range for accurate readings. If you cannot adjust to zero, it indicates that the battery voltage in the meter is insufficient, and the battery should be replaced.
When measuring resistance online, the power supply should be cut off, and you should also check for any other components that may form a parallel circuit with the resistance being measured. If necessary, you can solder one end of the resistor out of the circuit for measurement. For circuits with electrolytic capacitors, the capacitor should be fully discharged before measurement.
When using a multimeter, develop the habit of not touching the metal parts of the probes to prevent electric shock accidents. Additionally, touching the metal parts of the probes while measuring resistance can affect the readings.
In daily work, many people make some mistakes when using a multimeter. Here are some common errors; have you done any of these?
1. Using a cheap fuse to replace the original fuse in the multimeter. If your digital multimeter (DMM) meets the electrical safety standards indicated, then the fuse should be a special safety fuse that can quickly disconnect before a serious overload occurs to ensure the safety of the instrument and personnel. When you need to replace the fuse in a digital multimeter, be sure to use a fuse that meets safety standards and is allowed for use.
2. Using a piece of metal wire or metal sheet to replace the multimeter fuse. This may seem like a quick fix when you can't find a spare fuse, but such a fuse can pose serious safety issues.
