    Gap-type lightning arrester: Limits overvoltage by discharging through the air gap between electrodes. This type of arrester has a simple structure, but the discharge voltage is unstable, making it suitable for situations where discharge voltage requirements are not high.

    Tube-type lightning arrester: Equipped with a discharge gap and an arc-extinguishing device, it can quickly extinguish the arc after discharge. Tube-type arresters have good pressure-limiting effects, but installation and maintenance are relatively complex.

    Valve-type lightning arrester: Composed of a spark gap and valve resistance in series, it has a simple and clear structure. Valve-type arresters have low residual voltage, high action accuracy, and no follow current, but they are complex in structure and have a small flow capacity. They are commonly used for lightning protection in 3~550kV electrical lines, transformer and distribution equipment, motors, switches, etc., and are suitable for both AC and DC power grids.

    Zinc oxide lightning arrester: Utilizes the nonlinear resistance characteristics of zinc oxide material to limit overvoltage. Zinc oxide arresters have advantages such as fast response speed, low residual voltage, and strong pollution resistance, making them the most widely used type of lightning arrester today.
